Republic fiscal officer to receive pay increase
By Bonnie Daniel, CorrespondentREPUBLIC - Republic council's personnel committee recommended to members that Fiscal Officer Lynne Stephens receive a pay increase of $.35 per hour, having completed her 90-day probationary period. Upon finishing another 30 days, they suggested an additional $.65 per hour increase since she would be adding clerk of court to her duties. Stephens is to need training for that position.
A difference of opinion prompted an executive session to discuss the increases. No decision was made. Personnel committee members set 4:15 p.m. March 16 to further discuss the topic.
Personnel committee recommended to council that other village employees be given an 8-hour vacation day in lieu of all salaries being frozen at present. Council unanimously concurred.
Village Administrator Rod Conger said the emergency generator at the sewer plant is being installed. Three street lights have been repaired and downtown poles need replacing. Work at the park pump house to convert from chlorine gas to liquid chlorine is scheduled and plans to put three-phase underground electrical wiring at the park is being examined.
Tree and Youth committee members listened to ideas for youth activities this spring and summer.
In other action, council:
n Approved the resolution authorizing the sale of personal property, including motor vehicles acquired for the municipal officers and road machinery, equipment, tools or supplies which is not needed for public use or obsolete, by internet auction on www.govdeals.com, and declaring an emergency.
n Set 5:30 p.m. Tuesday for a finance committee meeting.
n Learned the village is to host the Certified Public Records Retention training for elected officials scheduled for July 7 at Tiffin University.
Council meets next at 6:30 p.m. March 15.
