WSOS to provide foreclosure assistance
Tiffin and Seneca County residents facing possible foreclosure may be able to find help at WSOS Community Action Commission through the Community Housing Improvement Program.
The program provides housing counseling to residents in danger of losing their homes to foreclosure. Assistance could include mediation between lenders and borrowers, possible refinancing of the mortgage, restructuring of debts and budgets, review of the homeowner's credit, assistance with a pre-foreclosure sale, explanation of the foreclosure process and possible rescue funds.
To be eligible for the assistance, residents must have incomes no more than 80 percent of the county's median income. Income eligibility ranges from $35,850 for a two-person household to $55,550 for a seven-person household. In addition, residents who may have liquid assets of $50,000 or more are not eligible for this assistance. Liquid assets are those assets that can easily be converted to cash, but it does not include your home.
