EVANSVILLE, Ind. - Southern Indiana didn't have any player score more than 16 points in its 93-73 win Monday over Tiffin University.
But the Eagles had plenty of scorers. Six players reached double digits in the win, and what was a tight first half turned into a somewhat lopsided final.
Still, first-year TU coach John Hill said the Dragons showed plenty of progress from its season opener, a 113-72 loss to West Liberty a week ago.
"I was really pleased with the way that we played," said Hill, whose Dragons fell to 0-2. "We were very happy with our performance. Not happy with the outcome, but happy we could get the ball into our offense and execute."
Leading that execution was DeAngelo Jordan, who had 15 points in the first half and 21 overall. Brian Scott had 19 points.
The Eagles' Jeron Lewis topped the Eagles with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Southern Indiana (2-0) outrebounded the Dragons, 34-23. Tiffin's top rebounder was Keenan Barlow, who had five to go along with 12 points.
The Eagles' Jamar Smith, a transfer from Illinois, scored 16 points and had five assists.
Hill said he felt Southern Indiana was a better team than West Liberty. The Dragons started Monday's game playing five players for five minutes, then switching them all out.
