5 hurt in wreck near Bloomville

By Erika Platt, eplatt@advertiser-tribune.com
POSTED: November 24, 2009

A Bloomville woman was taken by Life Flight to a Toledo hospital after an accident Monday morning near Bloomville.

Trooper Jim Van Camp of the State Highway Patrol said Sara Cole, 44, was taken by Life Flight to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center after she failed to yield at a stop sign at CR 12 and CR 49 and collided with another vehicle driven by Renee Bernal, 42, also of Bloomville, about 8:20 a.m.

Both vehicles went off the road, and Cole's vehicle overturned, trapping her inside, Van Camp said.

Cole was in fair condition Monday evening, a St. Vincent spokesman said.

Bernal and three passengers in her vehicle, Dylan Brown, 5, Olivia Sherwood, 5, and Desha Joseph, 7, all of Bloomville, were transported to Mercy Tiffin Hospital following the crash.

Van Camp said he believed all involved in the accident were wearing seat belts.

No citations have been made yet.

According to reports from the Seneca County Sheriff's Office, Bloomville and Republic Fire and EMS responded to the accident.
