Charity auction to begin at Mercy Hospital

By MaryAnn Kromer, mkromer@advertiser-tribune.com
POSTED: July 26, 2009

A silent auction of sports and celebrity memorabilia begins this week to benefit the Mercy Tiffin Health Foundation.

The items are to be on display for bidding from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Tuesday at the McMullen Conference Center located in Mercy Hospital of Tiffin. Bids also can be made from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Aug. 11 in the same location.

The silent auction is being conducted in conjunction with the 18th annual Walter A. Daniel, M.D. Golf Outing Aug. 17, when the winning auction bidders are to be announced.

Bernie Steinmetz, Manager of Development and Public Relations at Mercy Hospital of Tiffin, is organizing both events.

The combined benefit is to take place at Mohawk Golf and Country Club with all proceeds benefiting the Mercy Tiffin Health Foundation.

The golf scramble features a single flight teeing off with a shotgun start at 10 a.m. The field is limited to the first 36 paid teams. Clouse Construction is serving as the major sponsor of the event. A box lunch and a buffet dinner is included in the entry fee. Awards are to be given for closest to the pin and longest drive.

Non-golfers are urged to support the Mercy Tiffin Health Foundation as sponsors or auction participants. The public is invited to bid on the auction items the day of the Mohawk outing.

Steinmetz said the event has raised nearly $370,000 over the years to benefit the foundation.

For more information on the golf outing or silent auction, contact Steinmetz at (419) 455-7049.
