Police arrested a Mansfield man Wednesday night in connection with the Nov. 3 armed robbery at Check Into Cash, 748 W. Market St., according to a release from the Tiffin Police Department.

William D. Morgan, 30, was charged with aggravated robbery, kidnapping and tampering with evidence after investigators were led to Morgan by information obtained from witnesses of the robbery, according to the report.

During the robbery, Morgan allegedly brandished a gun at Check into Cash employees and demanded cash, taking a fair amount of money, LaGrange said Thursday.

LaGrange said Morgan, also known as Edwin T. Garcia, had tied up the clerk during the robbery and fled in a black Jeep Liberty with an Ohio Smokey Bear license plate.

He also had taken the video out of the store's surveillance camera, LaGrange said.

The license plate, in combination with the vehicle description, led investigators to Morgan, LaGrange said, and items linking him to the robbery also were found in his residence during a search warrant.

According to the report, Morgan also had outstanding warrants from Richland County and now is being held at the Richland County Jail.
