Bank making headway with checking account
By Kevin Risner, krisner@advertiser-tribune.comRepresentatives of National City Bank have made some progress toward reconciling the county's main checking account.
County Treasurer Marguerite Bernard met with the county commissioners Monday.
She reported the bank had found information to account for about $21,000 of variance in the checking account.
Bernard provided a written report about the efforts of the bank.
"They are continuing to search and research," Bernard said of the bank representatives.
Bernard said again the checking variance was a bank problem. Bernard said part of the variance issues might be because of financial transfers to the Seneca County Board of Health.
Lynette Cameron of the county auditor's office said a second county checking account - the payroll checking account - now is also reconciled.
Transfer fees had caused the auditor's office to question whether the payroll account was properly reconciled.
Cameron said the auditor's office and the treasurer's office had agreed to a different way to handle the transfer fees and the payroll account is reconciled.
County Administrator Stacy Wilson said Belinda Miller of the Ohio State Auditor's office is expected to meet with the commissioners Thursday afternoon.
Miller is expected to provide an update about the efforts of the state auditor's office to assist the county with the main county checking account.
Commissioner Dave Sauber thanked Bernard, members of the county auditor's office and representatives of National City Bank for continuing the efforts to reconcile the checking account.
