SW takes out Mohawk in five
PREP VOLLEYBALLFOSTORIA - Brooke Baker hammered 14 kills and Taylor Burns added seven Tuesday to key St. Wendelin's 25-17, 27-25, 21-25, 25-19, 15-12 Midland Athletic League win over Mohawk.
Baker added four block assists for the Mohawks, and Burns came up with 20 digs.
Lauren Geroski chipped in 23 assists and five kills, Chelcie Rutter had 11 assists, five aces and five block assists and Tara Emerine registered 15 digs. Lexi Valachovic added 10 digs and LeeAnn Doe pounded four solo blocks.
Columbian stays focused, moves to 5-0 in league
FOSTORIA - Lexi Rohrbach handed out 19 assists, and four of her teammates combined for 32 kills in Tuesday's 25-15, 25-20, 25-16 Northern Ohio League win over Fostoria.
"We went into tonight's match against Fostoria knowing that we had to start out strong and take control of the match right away," TC coach Becky Rohrbach said. "Fostoria has taken many teams to four and five games, and we were determined not to let that happen.
"The girls played well tonight as a team," she said. "The sets were distributed well, and the girls earned the majority of their points."
Maya Brown slammed 12 kills for the Tornadoes (5-1 overall, 5-0 NOL), Kylie Simonds hammered seven, Katie Magers drilled seven and Jill Stein belted six.
Simonds added eight aces and three digs, Stein chipped in six assists and six digs, and Rohrbach registered five kills, three aces and three block assists.
Rachel Ream came up with 13 digs, Alex Koch had eight digs and Kayla Little served three aces.
Senecas stay unbeaten
Ali Mass tallied a double-double of 10 kills and 10 digs, and Alexa Frank dished out 28 assists as Calvert slipped by in two close sets for a 25-23, 25-19, 26-24 home victory over Fremont St. Joe.
Elizabeth Conn added eight kills for the Senecas, who remained unbeaten at 6-0 (2-0 Midland Athletic League). Brooke Lonsway recorded 14 digs.
Stockaders roll up Bobcats
BETTSVILLE - Brittany Adelsperger and Hannah Haubert each nearly turned in a double-double Tuesday in a 25-11, 25-7, 25-17 Midland Athletic League win over Bettsville.
Adelsperger tallied 12 assists and eight aces while Haubert (2 aces) had 10 kills and eight digs.
Brittany Stults (3 aces) chipped in 16 digs for the Stockaders (3-3 overall, 1-1 MAL), Elisha Guth had seven assists and four kills, Christie Hotz belted six kills, Sarah Cramer came up with six digs and Coral Curns had four kills.
Mindi Clark (ace) led Bettsville with three assists.
Raiders can't find their groove
PEMBERVILLE - Eastwood had just one hiccup Tuesday in a 25-14, 22-25, 25-14, 25-14 Suburban Lakes League win over Lakota.
Olivea Frantz gave Lakota 17 assists while Amy Gosche registered 10 kills and 10 digs.
Hannah Podach had seven digs for the Raiders, Kyle Podach drilled six kills and Mackenzie Brewer and Rachel Hoffman both lined four kills. Jessica Hoffman added four kills and four digs.
Rams even record
UPPER SANDUSKY - Ashley Binau tossed up 30 assists and Alyssa Graboski turned in a double-double Tuesday as Upper Sandusky beat Northern Ohio League foe Willard 25-22, 12-25, 25-21, 25-17.
Graboski (3 assists) registered 17 digs, 12 kills and six block assists for the Rams (4-4 overall, 3-2 NOL).
Ashleigh Kline (3 aces) chipped in 15 digs and seven kills, Courtney Collins lined 10 kills, Emily Caudill (3 solo blocks, 3 digs) smashed nine kills and Shelby Courtad came up with seven digs.
Tigers gang up on North Baltimore
NORTH BALTIMORE - Four Seneca East players smacked six kills each Tuesday in a 25-9, 25-19, 25-16 Midland Athletic League win over North Baltimore.
Alexa Wilhelm, Shana Hay, Kate Bowerman and Kari Schultz all lined six kills.
Wilhelm added five aces and four digs for the Tigers (3-4 overall, 2-0 MAL), Bowerman belted four blocks and Schultz came up with four digs.
Kaci Miller backed them with seven digs, three kills and three blocks and Julia Kagy had five aces and four digs.
