Larry D. Stephens, 64, of 130 E. Davis St., Tiffin, died at 12:29 p.m., Friday, July 18, 2008, at his residence.

Larry was born, Sept. 15, 1943, in Wilmington, N.C., to the late Butler Robert and Betty Mae (Fulton) Stephens. He married Sue (Zoeller) at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Tiffin, Feb. 23, 1963. She survives.

Survivors include his children, Michael E. Stephens of Tiffin, Mark A. (Denise) Stephens also of Tiffin and Sherri L. (Tony) Schumm of Delaware. Larry is also survived by brothers, Wayne (Pati) Stephens of Tiffin, Mark (Cindi) Stephens of Florida and Butler (Bernadette) Stephens of Tiffin; a sister, Christine (James) Rettig of Holgate; a brother-in-law, Fred (Louise) Zoeller of Tiffin; and a sister-in-law, Rita (Tom) Loesser of Tiffin. Larry had eight grandchildren, Amber Stacklin, Michael (Laura) Duncan, Ashley Stephens, Brandon, Tori and Marisa Stephens, and Andrew and Matthew Schumm; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Larry was the former Sheriff of Seneca County and a retired Tiffin Police Officer. He was a former EMT/Paramedic for Tiffin City and also worked for Comfort Keepers. Larry was a State Certified Nurse's Aide and a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Buckeye State Sheriff's Assoc., the Tiffin Moose Lodge, the F.O.P., Tiffin Eagles Club, and was a 1961 graduate of Columbian High School. Larry enjoyed NASCAR, watching his grandchildren's sporting events, gardening, cooking and just being a grandpa.

A Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m., Monday, July 21, 2008, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Joseph Szybka officiating.

Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m., Sunday, July 20, 2008, at the Engle-Shook Funeral Home in Tiffin. Burial will follow the service Monday, at parish cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Tiffin Columbian Athletic Boosters, Special Kids Therapy, the F.O.P. or to the donor's choice.
