Finding bargains to stock shelves or entertain guests may be easier when the Dollar Tree opens it's doors Tuesday morning.
The new store in the Westgate Shopping Center is to welcome shoppers at 9 a.m. Tuesday, and will celebrate with opportunities to win gift cards during promotions for the next several weeks.
Manager Tim Wolfe had worked at the Findlay store, and said the store will employ about 15 people. Applications are being taken, he added.
The store's merchandise is all priced at one dollar, and there is a variety of brand name products available, Wolfe said.
Seasonal merchandise is to be available including items for back to school, Halloween and Christmas. Wolfe said there will be a limited amount of traditional July 4 merchandise, such as sparklers, with supplies limited due to the store opening so close to the holiday.
The store is a boon to teachers, Wolfe said, because Dollar Tree offers supplies to prepare the classroom such as borders and other room decorations. Scrapbooking enthusiasts also can find a selection of papers and other supplies.
"There's everything that you need for a party," Wolfe said. "From the paper, gift bags, party favors, decorations, to balloons." Some of the more popular items are the mylar balloons the store carries, he said.
Those who need to buy large quantities of an item can order case lots of items online, and have them delivered to the store at no additional shipping cost.
"The case lots are delivered to the store; we call the customer when it comes in," Wolfe said. "People can buy by the case; they don't pay for freight, it comes to us."
The Tiffin Area Chamber of Commerce is to be sponsoring a ribbon cutting to welcome the store Thursday, Wolfe said. During the first few weekends of the store's opening, there are to be some special giveaways and activities.
"We will have some giveaways, and Pepsi will be here with a promotion and there will be fingerprinting for kids set up," he said.
During the past few weeks as store employees have prepared for opening, Wolfe said he has been encouraged by the interest the community has shown in the store.
"I've met some nice people who want to know when we will be open, because they want to go shopping," Wolfe said of the reception in Tiffin so far. "We've received a positive response, and we're pleased."
Store hours will be 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Sundays.
