Man remains in hospital after fatal crash
By Erika Platt, eplatt@advertiser-tribune.comA Findlay man remained in serious condition Tuesday afternoon following a fatal accident Thursday evening in Hancock County, a spokeswoman from St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo said.
Anthony L. Simon, 24, was taken by Life Flight to St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo after he was involved in a three-car collision that killed 18-year-old Carrie K. Payne of Sycamore and 17-year-old Heidi M. Tanner of Vanlue.
The accident occurred when Payne struck the driver’s side and rear bumper of an SUV driven by Roger J. Brickner, 55, of Findlay, as she was swerving back and forth while traveling eastbound on SR 568.
She then continued traveling eastbound in the opposite lane of traffic, where she hit a van driven by Simon.
Payne was pronounced dead at the scene, and Tanner was taken by Life Flight from the scene to St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, where she died Friday morning.
Simon and his passenger, J. Michael Warner, 48, of Findlay, were transported to Blanchard Valley Hospital in Findlay. Simon was later transported by Life Flight to St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center.
Brickner was treated at the scene, and his passenger, Alice D. Brickner, 57, of Findlay, was not injured.
Two other passengers in Payne’s vehicle, 17-year-old Kylie L. Nutter, of Sycamore, and 13-year-old Jacklyn Mckitrick of Vanlue, were transported to Blanchard Valley.
Nutter was treated and released from the hospital Thursday night, and a spokeswoman from Blanchard Valley said Tuesday afternoon the hospital had no patients by the name of Mckitrick.
