The former Ames property on West Market Street has been sold to Lowe’s for $1.5 million.

The transfer from Tiffin Holdings LP care of New York-based National Realty & Development to Lowe’s Home Center Inc. was completed Feb. 13, according to the Seneca County Auditor’s Web site, for $1.5 million.

Brent Howard, city law director, said the attorneys for Lowe’s have been cooperative and are willing to sign the plat for the new South Shaffer Park Drive road to be built next to the property, connecting US 224 and SR18.

Rich Focht, chief executive officer for Seneca Industrial and Economic Development Corp., confirmed the sale, but said he was not sure what the company’s time frame is.

“It’s a good sign. They’re moving ahead with the project.” Focht said.

Lowe’s was unable to confirm or provide further information regarding the sale before press time Tuesday.
