EQIP, through the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Natural Resources Conservation Service, provides farmers with incentive payments, as well as technical assistance for conservation activities that help limit soil erosion, improve water and air quality, and protect wildlife habitat.
The timeline for application, ranking and funding begins immediately. Now through Nov. 2, applications are being accepted from interested producers. In November and December the applications are to be ranked and NRCS plans to notify producers if their contract receives funding near the end of December.
More than 1,500 applications for the last EQIP ranking period did not receive funding. Those applicants should contact the local NRCS office if they still are interested in funding. Deferred applications can be re-entered into the ranking pool.
