Rose Marie Shook
Rose Marie Shook, 88, of 129 Prospect St., Tiffin, died at 7:37 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 14, 2007, at Mercy Hospital of Tiffin.
Rose was born Nov. 16, 1918, in Tiffin, to Celestin and Hubertine (Lambert) Mestrez. She married Eber G. Shook June 18, 1938, at St. Mary Catholic Church, and he preceded her in death March 10, 1970.
Survivors include her children, Thomas (Joanne) Shook of Tiffin, Ronald Shook of Milton, Fla., Larry (Carol) Shook, Michael (Barbara) Shook, Carol Shook, Linda (Carl) Thom, Jeffrey (Darlene) Shook, Richard (Joan) Shook and Timothy Shook, all of Tiffin, and Christopher (Diane) Shook of Battle Creek, Mich.; 28 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert (Pat) Mestrez of Tiffin; a sister, Alice Huth of Fostoria; and sisters-in-law, Beverly Mestrey of Tiffin and Phylis Shook of Tiffin.
Rose was a homemaker and a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Tiffin. She was a 1936 graduate of Columbian High School. Rose was an extremely proud and courageous lady for having raised 10 children after the death of her husband. She will be remembered for her strength and tenacity and for what she did best — being a mother.
Rose was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Albert and Edgar; and a sister, Gabriel Hummer.
A Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2007, at St. Mary Catholic Church with the Rev. David Ross officiating.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2007, with a wake service at 7 p.m. at Engle-Shook Funeral Home in Tiffin. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
