TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) — Autopsies show that two firefighters killed in a Toledo apartment blaze in northwest Ohio died from burns and carbon monoxide.
A coroner's report released Tuesday revealed the cause of death.
Fire officials say 42-year-old Stephen Machcinski and 31-year-old James Dickman died Sunday while fighting the fire in a six-unit apartment building near downtown Toledo.
Investigators have not said what caused the fire or led up to the deaths. They will take their time trying to figure out what happened and are talking to everyone who was at the scene.
A memorial service for the firefighters is planned Thursday night at Toledo's downtown convention center.
Mourners have taken to social media to pay tribute to them.
