Forty-four percent of local graduates had neither parent attend college, yet 85 percent plan to attend two- and four-year colleges. That was just one of the interesting facts that came out of a survey The Advertiser-Tribune distributed to area high school seniors. The newspaper sought to find the future plans of area graduates. The seniors responded to questions such as, “What will you do after high school?” “What type of college will you attend?” “Did your parents attend college?” and “What do you expect your starting salary to be?” They responded to questions seeking to learn their planned course of study and their career aspirations. The A-T also asked where they hope to live in 10 years, what most worries them about the future and how they expect their standard of living to compare to their parents’. The seniors expressed concern about finances and the economy, gas prices and being away from their families.
