TU women vs. Ohio Dominican
January 5, 2012 - Zach Baker
Tiffin women lead Ohio Dominican, 14-5 with 14:11 left. Dragons playing outstanding defense, while Mandy Jaeb and Karli Mast each have hit 3s.
With 9:53 left in the first half, TU holds an 18-9 advantage over Ohio Dominican. The Panthers aren't doing much offensively, as the Dragons D hasn't allowed many open shots. TU's offense isn't exactly crisp, but the defense has created some scoring opportunities TU has cashed in. Abby Glover splits a pair of foul shots, but Jaeb draws a foul on the next possession, converts both, and the Dragons lead 20-10 (9:27)
After a beautiful drive by Diedra Brown that resulted in a layup, the Dragons lead, 24-17 with 5:02 left. Lead was down to 3 moments ago.
Score remains 24-17 with 4:13 left before half. TU's offense looks a little out of sync. Part of the problem is that Jaeb has picked up three fouls already, so we may not see her until the second half.
Not the prettiest of halves, but TU leads, 29-21. Jaeb has seven points.
Kaycee Hockenberry has seven for the Panthers.
Dragons shot less than 43 percent, but ODU really struggled from the floor, making just 7 of 26 shots. The reason the Panthers are still in this thing is they have eight offensive boards to the Dragons 2, and are outboarding them 22-14 overall. Mandy Jaeb drains a 3 from the right wing. She has 12, TU leads 34-23. But remember, Mandy's a foul away from disappearing for 10 minutes (16:48). Dragons lead, 36-25, 14:39 left. Meredith Fox has made a couple of nice jumpers, but that's been it for ODU on offense this half. As we pull inside 12 minutes, Dragons are pulling away. A 3 by Melissa Gilliland is followed by a pretty turnaround jumper by Jessica Harris. TU leads, 43-25. This baby's over. It's 62-36 TU, 4:30 left. Jaeb has 17. Mast and Harris have 10 and Brown has nine points.
