TU vs. No. 1 GVSU

October 2, 2010 - Zach Baker
Mike Rutkowski kicked a 30-yard field goal, but Grand Valley State leads, 14-3 with 8:09 left in the first half.

-Norman Schuford just scored on a rush to make it 14-3.

It's raining steadily here.

-GVSU can run the ball with ease, as its offensive line is pushing the TU defensive line around. It looks like this could be a long day for the Dragons. (5:00)

Justin Sherrod runs the ball in from short yardage, it's 21-3.

Greg Gay runs a crossing pattern and beats his man. From there, it's just a pitch and catch, and a 30-yard TD pass. It's 28-3, GVSU with 25 seconds to go in the first. Big time run by David McKnight for 26 yards to the GVSU 43. Biggest play in two drives.

TU, aided by some GVSU interference penalties, gets to the Laker 19. But Young fumbles the ball and TU loses 12 yards to the 31. In wet conditions, Walkosky opts to punt from there. (8:53) Tight end Tony Carreri makes a catch and run, and run, and run. It sets up another GVSU score.Heath Parling, who if the depth chart is to be believed, is the third string quarterback, runs in the touchdown. It's 34-3, 7:35 to go in the half.

Nate Scully, the starting QB for the first three weeks, has caught a pair of passes. TU has been able to move the ball a bit, which is a positive. Scoring has been the problem. (3:07).

2:59 into the third quarter, and GVSU already has scored twice, once on a TD pass and once on a fumble return for a score. It's 48-3.

Tiffin breaks through with 6:52 to go in the third, Nate Scully (who replaced an injured Jason Young) hit David Singleton in the back of the end zone It's 48-10. GVSU responds by returning the kickoff to the TU 1.
