July 2, 2010 - Janet DelTurco
It has been so long since I wrote a blog that it took me ages to get my access code straight and to remember my log-in information. I had decided that probably no one ever read it, except my daughter Vicki in Nashville, and when this summer got impossibly busy I quit writing. Then today I receivede an e-mail from a reader who said she missed it. What a wake-up call! So thank you, Janet, I am happy to know you are out there.
Things got busy in late April and early May with a visit from my sister in England. We had a wonderful time rushing around to visit many gardens and parks, and those weeks just flew by. She is a gardener too, so we had a lot of must-see places, but did not get to all of them. Then came planting time in the garden, made a bit busier this year because my garden waqs on the Historical Society garden tour and I wanted everything to be as nice as possible. The garden owners on the tour had their own private field trip a few days later, and we car-pooled around to see all the gardens. A good thing I did not see them before, or I would have spent that Sunday afternoon in bed with the covers over my head. Mine was by far the smallest and least interesting. I really enjoyed seeing all those beautiful hidden gardens, each one with at least one ouitstsnding feature. But people were very kind and polite, and i enjoyed showing everyone around.
After that was over, I had several talks to do, The Master Gardeners Plant Sale took time and energy, although it was worth it many times over. We did a workshop on Fairy Gardens, and then my daughter came up for a visit So I have not been idle, just not blogging. I will try to do better. I wrote a column on my flowers a couple of weeks ago, and the update on the vegetable garden will be in next week, so no need for much information on that. But I will make sure there is something there to read every week..
