April 28, 2010 - Al Stephenson
Who would have thunk it that the biggest play LeBron James made in the game 5 clinching win against the Chicago Bulls was a missed free throw with 7 seconds left.
Well, it's true. The King made the first of two free throws putting the Cavs up by 4 (making it a two possession game) and then inexplicably he was hurting so bad that he chose to shoot the second shot left-handed. He missed as it clanked off the rim, but it made national headlines. It also made me wonder what the heck was going on.
The elbow apparently has been bothering him for weeks. I can't believe that the first free throw was enough to suddenly make it unusable. Did he have an ulterior motive for doing what he did? That's hard to say though he looked in excrutiating pain following the game.
The elbow injury is a mystery. It is also a big concern among Cav fans, who are waiting for the first Cleveland championship since, well, before most of them were born.
The view from my seat would suggest that the Cavs may have a tough time winning that elusive title and that's if LeBron is healthy.
Without him? Forget it!
