State Track Updates

June 5, 2009 - Zach Baker

About 9 a.m., a half hour before Seneca East girls run in the 4 x 800. Sunny and mild at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium, with little wind to speak of. I'll be checking in throughout the day with results.

10:24- Seneca East's 4 x 8 team of Jessica Phillips, Brittany Stockmaster, and Brooke and Brecka Szabo finished sixth, with a time of 9:41.57.

St. Wendelin's Juanna Gase and Lakota's Jacob Smith qualified for tomorrow's finals in the 100 and 110 hurdles, respectively. 

Lakota's Roger Guerra qualified for the finals in the 100.

12:45- Lakota's 4 x 100 team of Guerra, Smith, Austin McGown and Jason Moore finished seventh in its heat, failing to qualify for tomorrow's finals.

Seneca East's Andy Ruffing was sixth in his 400 heat. failing to qualify for tomorrow. New Riegel's Michael Reinhart is moving on in the 300 hurdles, after finishing third in his heat.

Ruffing will compete tomorrow, as he will join the Tigers' 4 x 400 team, which was third in its heat and punched a ticket for the finals. The other members of the team are Kenny Weaver, Drew Siesel and Tyler Crapo. They ran in 3:27.39.

3:23- Guerra tied for seventh in the high jump, clearing 6-4.

Upper Sandusky's 4 x 200 squad of Ashleigh Kline, Emily Caudill, Shanae Ankney and Lynzi Daughenbaugh qualified for finals by running a 1:46.4. The same squad ran the 4 x 100 in 51.24, but failed to advance.

The Rams will run the 4 x 4 in about a half hour.  

5:44- Carey's Corey Harrold placed fourth in the discus (160-9), while Upper Sandusky's 4 x 400 team of Ankney, Caudill, Lynzi Daughenbaugh and Tayler Daughenbaugh failed to qualify for the finals.

6:50- Guerra placed ninth in the long jump, going 21-4 3/4.
