OAC Update

May 9, 2009 - Zach Baker

Marietta has rallied to beat John Carroll, 8-7, in Saturday's first game. The result eliminates the Blue Streaks from the OAC baseball tournament.

Marietta's win sets up a rematch with Otterbein in about a half hour. The Cardinals beat the Pioneers Friday, 18-10.

What this means is that if Marietta beats Otterbein, it will go up against Heidelberg in the final, likely on Sunday (teams can play three games in one day, but they can't be forced to. I also can't imagine Marietta coach Brian Brewer would want his guys to go up against a rested Heidelberg team in a must-win game).

If Otterbein wins, it will face Heidelberg later this afternoon. If HU wins that game, it is the champs and gains an automatic bid to the D-III regionals, most likely in Adrian, Mich.

If the Cardinals beat Heidelberg, the teams will come back for a winner-take-all game Sunday.

Get all that?
