This week

March 1, 2009 - Zach Baker

It was pretty moving Friday night at Columbian's boys basketball game against Shelby.

First the school held a short ceremony before the game, where the late Eric Rohrbach was honored. Rohrbach, the husband of TC volleyball coach Becky Rohrbach and the father of basketball player Lexi, died in January.

Eric Rohrbach was a Columbian graduate, and played basketball at TC, as well as Tiffin University. He also coached youth baseball and basketball in the area. Before the game, a plaque and a new American flag were dedicated in his honor.

After Columbian's win over Shelby Saturday, after coach Bill Beaston had finished his interview with me, he presented Becky Rohrbach with a piece of the net cut from the basket (all the players cut a piece after winning a share of the NOL).

"(Eric) was a huge part of our elementary program," Beaston said. "I thought (Becky) deserved it."
