February 12, 2009 - Janet DelTurco
In case anyone who is reading this has dormant geraniums saved from the fall, this is the time to take a look at them. About a week ago I was searching for the hardware to hang my grow lights in my dark, cold and grubby basement, and I noticed that the geranium stems had leafed out. In fact one had an optimistic flower bud already! They spent a few days in a bucket of water (rain water) and this week I potted them up in 5-inch pots and moved them up to my bedroom window where they get nice morning sun, and plenty of light all day. And they are looking good. Now I have 17 plants I will not have to buy this spring, and I know they are the pink and salmon colors I prefer. This will be in my column in two weeks from now, but you saw it first here!
