Towed you so
November 14, 2013 - Rob Weaver
Remember Madison Motors of Tiffin? The company was called Madison Street Garage back in in 1927, when Russell Dryfuse opened the first towing service in the area.
It's now known as Madison Motor Service Inc., and it moved to Fremont about 20 years ago to be closer to the Ohio Turnpike, where it is an authorized service provider. Rick Seitz now runs the business, with his son, Tony.
It's still in the towing business, and the first snowfall of the season made for a busy day, as two semi-trucks slid off SR 2 near a railroad overpass and down an embankment.
The photo here shows the truck involved in the first crash, when it came to rest in a stream. The picture offers a clue why troopers summoned to the crash had a difficult time locating an entire semi rig; it was off the road, in the creek, below the level of the bridge deck next to it.
This is a great reminder to slow down during wintry weather and to remember bridges, and their approaches, can freeze before the surface of roadways leading to them.
