Impatient for spring

March 18, 2013 - Rob Weaver
Normally, I love winter weather. But the sign outside Grand Rental Station today was the last straw.

“We rent heaters,” it read.

We're not superstitious, but my wife and I decided to take action this morning. She plans to take the heavy comforter off our bed, which we use during the cooler half of the year, and trade it for the lighter-weight bedspread we begin using in the spring. I plan to shave my winter beard.

Maybe that will prompt a change in the weather pattern, so we can at least have temperatures that aren't 10-15 degrees below average. While the icy roads this morning nixed the idea of riding a motorcycle to work, I also could pull the hardtop off the Jeep and use the soft top.

I'm even willing to let the fire go out in the wood-burner. But not till next week -- or whenever springtime weather truly does arrive. My calendar says spring begins Wednesday. The forecast calls for snow.
