TU men v. Northern Michigan

December 18, 2012 - Zach Baker
Joe Graessle hit a pair of 3 pointers to start the game, but was poked in the eye soon after and hasn't been back. Tiffin and Northern Michigan are tied at 12, as Khaleal McCormick has 4.

Graessle has eight, Dragons lead 18-14. Kris Riddle leads the Wildcats with seven points.

When TU plays zone, it leads to 3-point shots. In the last two games, the opponents have taken advantage. Matt Craggs just hit an open 3, and TU's lead is trimmed to 1 at the 8:15 mark.

Isaiah Twine has nine points off the bench and Tiffin leads 26-23 at the 4:47 mark of the first half. It's been helpful that TU is getting offense from other places than No. 33.

The most frustrating thing about Tiffin this season is the number of easy shots they miss. Example: Just before the half John Hill called timeout and designed a play where Joe Graessle drew attention then fed the ball to Mike Boan under the basket. Boan was defended, but had a clear look at the basket from a few feet away... and missed the shot. Dragons lead 29-27 at the half.

Graessle has 15 and TU leads 39-33 with 14:39 left. Freshman Jonathan Sutherlin has had a nice game, gobling up rebounds and scoring six points for TU. Craggs has 11 for the Wildcats.

With 9:24 left, Dragons hold a 47-43 lead. Graessle has 18, Twine 11. Biggest thing is, can the Dragons manufacture enough offense to extend a lead. TU looks like the better team, but Northern Michigan is hanging in there.

Matt Craggs left wide open on the wing and he hits a 3. Seems like that's happened a few times tonight as the Dragons lead 47-46 with 8:12 left in regulation.

Dragons have scored 1 point in the last four minutes. It seems to strike them every extended stretch without offense in this league is just tough to come back from. Dragons tied with Wildcats with 6:13 left.

Dragons lead 50-48, but they haven't scored a basket in five and a half minutes. Only two free throws from Cody Dennison and one foul shot from Isaiah Twine have kept TU from being scoreless.

Cody Dennison's 3 with 47 seconds left prove the turning point as TU wins, 62-55. Graessle finishes with 22, Isaiah Twine with best game of his career with 18. Dragons now 4-6, 2-4 in GLIAC.
