Ol' Doc's Football Forecast Week 10
November 2, 2012 - Al Stephenson
The Doctor went 1-2 in week 9 and feels a little chagrined. Mount Union proved that Heidelberg is still not in their class which I predicted correctly. Beware Raiders - the Berg is getting closer! Notre Dame is trying to make a believer out of me and Florida could not hang on to the football as the Irish won on the road and the Gators lost at a neutral site.
Overall Ol' Doc is now 18-9. Not bad, but it may prove difficult to keep up the winning record as I go after some big games this weekend. Plenty of top 25 matchups this go round. So let's get at it.
#1 Alabama at #5 LSU. The Tigers are 7-1 with the only loss coming at the hands of Florida. The Tigers are wondering why the Gators didn't lay the ball down against them instead of Georgia. Had that happened we would be looking at a national championship game instead of just a great college game this weekend in Baton Rouge.
An LSU victory would certainly muddle the picture for the BCS and a win is certainly possible. I look for Alabama to be focused and have a little more talent than the home team. Therefore I'm going with the Tide in a good close game.
Alabama 20 LSU 16.
#4 Oregon at #17 USC. The Trojans national title hopes were dashed early. Now they are playing for pride. A win over the Ducks could salvage a season of very high hopes. However, the Ducks have the one element that is essential for any sports team - quickness. My goodness but they fly all over the field. Not much competition so far, but Oregon will find a way to dismantle the Trojans.
Oregon 42 USC 28.
#24 Oklahoma State at #2 Kansas State. Unless the Wildcats are thinking about having to be undefeated to even have a chance to play for the national championship, they will win this game. That is a huge UNLESS however. After a shaky first quarter, Coach Bill Snyder gets them thinking about this game only as his team wins in his stadium.
Kansas State 49 Oklahoma State 28.
The view from my seat suggests that Ol' Doc is putting plenty of thought into these predictions. Just wish he had more knowledgable thoughts!
