Autumnwood

Court Appointed Special Advocates

CASA is looking for objective, conscientious and dependable community members who are willing to be trained as advocates for abused and neglected children. Individuals will speak in court to the juvenile court judge about the best interest of these children. Candidates must be 21 and over and will be required to pass a background check and various interviews. Read to Succeed

Tiffin-Seneca United Way and Tiffin-Seneca Public Library are seeking caring volunteers to help children improve their reading skills through the Read to Succeed program. This program is an ongoing volunteer opportunity to become directly involved in encouraging a students’ achievement. Volunteers donate about one hour each week, work one-on-one with students to improve their reading and comprehension skills, are assigned a school and classroom, and work directly with the teacher on necessary curriculum to be covered. Volunteers must provide their own transportation to the schools and participate in an orientation at the building in which they are volunteering. Volunteers must undergo a limited background check before entering classrooms (funding is available for background checks). Seneca Mentoring Youth Links

SMYL is seeking volunteers to mentor youths 6-17 years of age in a few different settings. SMYL is looking for mentors during the school day with our School Pals Program, after school with Impact Youth Center and one-on-one mentoring at your convenience. Sisters in Shelter

Sisters in Shelter is seeking caring, compassionate women to offer accompaniment to adult, female victims of human trafficking. SIS safe house volunteers must complete an eight-week training series and background check. Training begins at 6 p.m. April 4. Tiffin Community YMCA

Tiffin Community YMCA is seeking volunteers to help deliver bags of food to the children registered with the weekend backpack food program. Tax Counseling for the Elderly

The VITA/TCE programs, which are overseen by the IRS Wage and Investment Division, are looking for volunteers. The purpose of these programs is to provide free tax preparation and outreach for low- to moderate-income taxpayers (defined as within the EITC threshold), senior citizens, people with disabilities, those with limited English proficiency and Native Americans. Volunteers would be asked to participate in providing services to these demographics within the Seneca County community.
