Deal with parking issue

I’ve been a lifelong resident of Tiffin. Now that we have seen a lot of interest in the downtown area that has been positive, there still is an elephant in the room. Parking! I do believe the judges who are behind a long-term solution are on the correct path. One idea that seemed to be viable was a parking garage. Last week, we read about a possible hotel and another development off Monroe Street. As I understood what I read was that the hotel project would cut into the city parking lot off East Market Street. If you were to take out the lot on Monroe Street, that would eliminate one more possible site.

So, with that being said, how many viable sites remain? The East Green/splashpad project eliminated one possible site. I know that the East Junior High is off the table. How many sites are left that would not cut into present parking?

I do think that our leaders need to take a step back and take a long look at resolving the largest problem facing downtown area. It is time to corral the “parking elephant.”
