More than a ‘thank you’
I am a veteran of eight years in the Air Force during the Vietnam era.
I have been thanked by people for my service. But Sunday, my wife and I were having breakfast at Rosie’s Diner when a young lady asked to shake my hand to thank me for my service. I said, “Yes” and my reply was, “I did it just for you, so you could be free.” She left after thanking me.
Our waitress came back to our table to get our bill. She said she had made a mistake on our bill. When we went to pay for our meal it had been paid for by the young lady.
It’s good to know that there are people who still know why they are free.
May God bless you, young lady.
