“The mediocre teacher tells. The good teacher explains. The superior teacher demonstrates. The great teacher inspires.” William A. Ward
Throughout life, many people can inspire our youth. A great teacher can inspire students every day within their classroom. Teachers serve as role models and often make a tremendous impact on the lives of their students. Teachers are the individuals who get students excited about learning. Without them, we wouldn’t have great authors, doctors, lawyers and citizens. Teachers once were students who had teachers who taught them about literature, science and government. Teachers are the ones who inspire students to learn more about these subjects and the world every day.
Today is a special day to show our appreciation for teachers. No other profession would be possible without them, and today is a day to remember those who were there for us during our journey as students. Sometimes, it is hard for students to see all of the extra things teachers do for others inside and outside of the classroom. Teachers, though, are the ones who saw us every day as students and who didn’t give up on us. For many of us, teachers are the ones who were in the audience at our sporting events, band recitals and school plays. It is because of teachers that we can do important things such as problem-solve, think deeply and creatively, and respect others.
To my teachers and to the teachers of today’s students, I applaud you, celebrate you and thank you for working hard for other people’s children and for opting to serve in a noble, challenging and very important profession. Our world is a better place because of you!
