Make room for roadside dangers
Move over or go slower.
OK, that lacks the catchiness of “drive sober or get pulled over,” but the rhyming structure is similar.
And, like seat belt use, Ohio law requires drivers to move over to an adjacent lane when approaching a vehicle with flashing lights parked along the roadway. If moving over isn’t possible — say, a second lane isn’t available — motorists should slow down.
This protects people in or near emergency vehicles, construction equipment, patrol cars and the like.
As Lt. Brent Meredith of the Ohio State Highway Patrol stated, “Moving over isn’t just the law, it’s the right thing to do.”
Let’s hope that’s catchy.
