Aid comes from area fire depts., businesses

The fire Friday on East Market Street in Tiffin was terribly destructive. Yet it also revealed the close-knit nature of this community.

Four fire departments worked together to battle the blaze. They personified just what the term “mutual aid” means.

Meanwhile, businesses pitched in to offer food and drink to weary first responders. On a cold, snowy day, firefighters in protective gear work up quite a sweat while facing searing heat, only to retreat to freezing temperatures. A chance to recover from the exertion isn’t just welcome, it’s needed.

A tip of the cap to the firefighters who worked together to extinguish the fire, and to the business owners who contributed to supporting their effort.
