Budget measure literally buys time

The skies cleared, the seas parted, and Wednesday our leaders came down from Capitol Hill with a plan to postpone potential fiscal Armageddon.

Investors rejoiced.

Great. But where do we go from here? The proposal is a delay, not a solution.

The underlying problems stemming from an unbalanced budget persist. Congress and the president bought more time to deal with them. But will that happen?

The national debt and federal deficit are ticking timebombs that need to be defused and dismantled.
