A fitting theme for National Day of Prayer
The first Thursday in May is set aside as a day to invoke help of a higher power for our communities, our state and our nation.
Thursday marks the 62nd National Day of Prayer in the United States and the 21st year of its observance locally.
The day’s theme for 2013 nationally is “Pray for America.” We can think of no better theme for the year.
With turmoil in the streets, an economic recovery that still could go the wrong way and a national government bent more on political gamesmanship than setting long-term direction, prayer is as important an answer as any decision in the ballot box.
Nationally, prayers will be led from 9 a.m. to noon on Capitol Hill. For those who cannot attend, the National Day of Prayer is being streamed live from Washington at nationalday
In Tiffin, an observance is set for 6:45-7:30 a.m. at Frost-Kalnow Stadium behind Columbian High School.
In Fostoria, the National Day of Prayer is to include a free continental breakfast at Good Shepherd Home Chapel at 8:30 a.m., with a program to begin at 9 a.m.
Take a few moments and see if it’s in your heart to ask for help from God to change the hearts of men and women to lead, not just to stand up for their party or their own ideas.
