Michael R. Bogart

Michael R. Bogart, 73, of Republic, passed away Friday, June 7, 2019, at Bridge Hospice Care Center in Findlay.

Mike was born Dec. 19, 1945, in Tiffin, to Charles and Dorothy (Brause) Bogart. He married Margaret (Kilgore) Oct. 19, 1968, in Republic and she survives in Republic.

Other survivors include his two daughters, Teri (Nicholas) Stump of Tiffin and Jill (James) Brown of Upper Sandusky; seven grandchildren, Brooklynn, Gavin and Avery Stump, Taylor and Chase Thomas and Abby and Emma Brown; a brother, Gary (Beate) Bogart of Florida; and three sisters, Lynn (Wayne) Kipps of Tiffin, Karen (Dave) Clady of Willard and Charlene (Matt) Gaietto of Republic.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Duane Bogart and an infant twin.

He retired from General Motors in Sandusky and was a member of Tiffin AmVets, Eagles, Masonic Lodge and a life member of North America Hunting Club, the NRA, Pheasants Forever and Rocky Mountain Elk Federation. Michael was an Army National Guard veteran.

In his younger days Mike drove the No. R-3 sprint car. He was an avid hunter who went to British Columbia and bagged a grizzly bear, moose and caribou. He also bagged two elk out west and a black bear in Manitoba. Mike loved spending time at his cabin in Pennsylvania hunting deer and turkey with his friends, riding his Harley and feeding the birds in the backyard. He was loved dearly and will be greatly missed by his wife, daughters and grandchildren.

Visitation for family and friends will be 3-8 p.m. Thursday, June 13, 2019, at Lindsey-Shook Funeral Home in Bloomville

The funeral for Mike will begin at 11 a.m. Friday, June 14, 2019, at the funeral home with Pastor Jim Stauffer officiating. Burial will follow in Farewell Retreat cemetery in Republic.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice or Scipio Republic Historical Society for the Town Hall Restoration Project.
