Carl ‘Norbert’ Young

Carl “Norbert” Young, 93, of Tiro, and formerly living at the Willows in Willard, passed away Sunday, Jan. 6, 2019, at Mercy Health – Willard Hospital, Willard.

He was born May 10, 1925, in Tiro, to Joseph and Gertrude (Wechter) Young.

He is the loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather of the following survivors: six children, Michael (Beth Teynor)Young of Bucyrus, Tom (Penny) Young of Tiro, Gary Young of New Washington, James (Roxann) Young of New Washington, Marlene (Rob) Keiser of Shelby and Paul (Katrina) Young of Sunbury; 10 grandchildren, Allison (Jay) Smith of Worthington, Matthew Young of Columbus, Dylan (Amber) Young of Grove City, Britain Young of Chicago, Hilary (Rod) Bowerman of Wadsworth, Scott (Christie) Shoup of New Washington and Mikaylah, Gabe, Lily and Nate Young of Sunbury; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Sister Charlene Young of Tiffin; a brother, Dr. Robert (Chris) Young of New Washington; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice (Millenbaugh) Young, in 2011; his parents; two sisters, Mary Angela Hook Horning and Dorothy Kreim; and two brothers, Donald and Eldon Young.

He was a member of the Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church in North Auburn and Knights of Columbus in New Washington. He was formerly employed at Plymouth Locomotive and was a farmer his entire life.

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2019, at Secor Funeral Home in New Washington.

The funeral mass will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 10, 2019, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in New Washington with the Rev. George Mahas officiating. Burial will be at a later date at Mother of Sorrows Catholic Cemetery in North Auburn.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Bernard School.
