Paul R. ‘Dick’ Walters
Paul R. “Dick” Walters, 91, of Tiffin, passed away Wednesday morning, Aug. 22, 2018, at Mercy Health – Tiffin Hospital.
He was born Dec. 18, 1926, in Bascom, to Orville E. and Mary Evelyn (Shumaker) Walters. He married Irene Elchert May 10, 1947, in St. Boniface Rectory, and she preceded him in death.
Survivors include his three sons, Larry J. Walters of Tiffin, Ronald L. Walters of Delaware and the Rev. Gary R. Walters of Tiffin; a daughter, Pamela A. (William) Robinson of Bucyrus; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He also was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Duane D. Walters; an infant brother; a daughter-in-law, Sue Walters; and a grandson, Brian Houle.
Dick graduated from Hopewell-Loudon High School and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He worked as an assembler at National Machinery for 44 years and was a member of the Quarter Century Club. Dick was very good at baseball during his high school years and played on the National Machinery team. He was a Detroit Tigers fan and enjoyed following and supporting his grandchildren in all their sports.
Friends may visit with the family 1-3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 25, 2018, until the time of his funeral at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, OH 44883 (419) 447-2424, with his son, the Rev. Gary Walters officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery.
