Gregory Nicholas ‘Greg’ Merryfield
Gregory Nicholas “Greg” Merryfield, 30, of Republic, passed away suddenly Sunday morning, Aug. 19, 2018, after living with a congenital heart disease his entire life.
He was born Dec. 12, 1987, in Tiffin, to Donald and Barbara Jean (Nicholas) Merryfield.
He is survived by his parents, Donald and Barbara Jean Merryfield of Republic; a brother, Aaron (fiancee, Charlene Wears) Merryfield of Bucyrus; a sister, Melinda Louise (Mike) Watkins of Elyria; grandfather, Robert Nicholas of Tiffin; and nieces and nephews, Natalie Rose Merryfield and Maxwell and Samantha Watkins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Donald J. and Elizabeth Merryfield and Claralice Nicholas.
Greg graduated in 2006 from Seneca East High School and Terra State Community College with an associate degree in computer science. He was a computer technician for Bascom Telephone Co. for about 10 years. Greg had his first open heart surgery when he was just 12, his second when he was 15 and his third surgery when he was 20. He was a member of Republic United Church of Christ, an Eagle Scout with Troop 442 and later the Order of Arrow, and he enjoyed going to flea markets, watching movies, driving around, and loved his dog, Peaches. Greg was close with his family and was very generous.
Friends may visit with the family 4-8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 24, 2018, at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, OH 44883, (419) 447-2424.
His funeral will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 25, 2018, at the funeral home with the Rev. Darla Metz officiating. Burial will follow in Farewell Retreat, Republic.
