Eugene J. Werling
Eugene J. Werling, 81, of Tiffin, died at 8:04 p.m. Sunday, May 13, 2018, at ProMedica Fostoria Hospital, in the emergency room.
Eugene was born May 29, 1936, in Tiffin, to Edward and Leona (Fredritz) Werling. He married Marilyn M. Bish Oct. 29, 1955, in St. Mary Catholic Church, Tiffin, and she died March 11, 2003.
Survivors include two sons, Thomas E. (Beverlye Horton) Werling of Fort Worth, Texas, and Gary J. (Lisa) Werling of Perrysburg; a daughter, Cynthia A. (Vincent) Kirchner of Tiffin; seven grandchildren, Erica Horman, Sheena Barthold, Micah Kirchner, Sean Kirchner, Joel Kirchner, Alex Szablewski and Michael Werling; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Rita Myrann of Phoenix, Arizona, and Reginia Gassner of Tiffin; a brother-in-law, Mike Reimer; and his very special friend with whom he shared the last few years, Sue Stephens.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, James, Paul, Edward, Gerald and Robert Werling; and four sisters, Madelyn Kiesel, Joyce Mortimer, Mary Ann Kern and Donna Reimer.
He attended Tiffin Calvert High School and retired from Atlas Crankshaft, Fostoria, after 29 years as a machinist. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin, and enjoyed golfing, bowling, boating, dancing and playing cards.
Visitation for family and friends will be 4-8 p.m. Friday, May 18, 2018, at Traunero Funeral Home and Crematory, 214 S. Monroe St., Tiffin, OH 44883, (419) 447-3113.
Prayers will be said at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, May 19, at the funeral home followed by his funeral Mass at 10 a.m., at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin, with the Rev. Joseph Szybka officiating. Burial will follow in Seneca Memory Gardens, Tiffin.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, Calvert High School or a charity of the donor’s choice.
