Betty Jean Walker

Betty Jean Walker, 82 (just shy of her 83rd birthday), of Findlay and formerly of Lapeer & Almont, Michigan, died Thursday, May 10, 2018.

Betty was born May 13, 1935, in Romeo, Michigan, to John and Louise (Hartway) Meggitt. Betty married Herbert Walker Dec. 13, 1954, in North Branch.

Betty is survived by her five children, Deborah (Dave) Smith of Troy, Annette (Russ) Elchert of New Riegel, Roger (Sandy) Walker of Lapeer, Michigan, Harold Walker of Imlay City, Michigan, and William Walker of Almont, Michigan; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Walker was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Walker in 2005; her grandson, Richard Walker; and her

parents.

She graduated from Almont High School, class of 1953.

Betty and Herbert went on to raise five children and dote on many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She worked for K-Mart in Lapeer for 18 years, retiring in 1995. While Betty lived in Lapeer, she attended Maple Grove Church — more recently she attended Vanlue Community Church in Vanlue. Betty was a loving homemaker — caring for her family was everything to Betty.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday, May 14, 2018, at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer, Michigan.

Betty will be laid to rest beside her husband in Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly, Michigan.
