Elaine L. Thom, 80, of Tiffin, passed away Wednesday evening, Jan. 10, 2018, at St. Francis Home.

She was born Aug. 24, 1937, in Cleveland, to Lawrence W. and Buelah L. (Wilhelm) Kocher. July 30, 1960, she married Kenneth D. Thom.

Survivors include her son, Roger L. Thom of Hilliard; her daughter, Vicki L. (Kevin) Bryant of Ostrander; and two grandchildren, Alexandra M. Thom of Missoula, Montana, and Isaac Thom of Hilliard.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth; and sister, Suzanne Sigler.

Elaine graduated in 1955 from Bucyrus High School and received a bachelor’s degree from Ohio University and master’s degree from Ashland University. She was a teacher at Mohawk schools for 22 years and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Elaine also was a member of Ohio Retired Teachers Association, Women of the Moose, Ohio Genealogy Society, Seneca County Genealogy Society, Seneca County Historical Society, Allen Eiry Senior Center and a docent at Seneca County Museum. She enjoyed genealogy and traveling in the United States and abroad.

Her funeral will begin at 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 15, 2018, at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, OH 44883, (419) 447-2424 with the Rev. Joseph Szybka officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

Friends may visit with the family 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral Monday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Seneca County Museum, Seneca-Crawford Area Transportation or Financial Assistance for Cancer Treatment of Seneca County.
