Joel A. Fox, 53, 492 SR 30, Oceola, died at 10:18 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3, 2017, at Bucyrus Community Hospital, Bucyrus.

He was born Feb. 7, 1964, to James A. and Jeanette E. (Theis) Fox. His mother survives in Tiffin. He married Laurie L. (Trout) Sept. 22, 2001, and she survives.

Surviving are a daughter, Nicole Swavel of Apple Creek; three brothers, Russell (Beverly) Fox of rural Tiffin, Michael Fox of Tiffin and Thomas (Lori) Fox of Sycamore; and one sister, Cheryl (Glenn) Chaffee of rural Sycamore.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Joel was an auto mechanic for 22 years, working at various car dealerships in the area, and for the past 11 years was working at Atlas Industries, Tiffin.

He was a 1982 graduate of Mohawk High School, went two years at Lincoln Technical Institute, Indianapolis, Indiana, and was a former member of the Tri-County Garden Tractor Pullers. For hobbies, he loved farming, going camping with family and friends, riding his motorcycle, attending the Wyandot County Fair and helping the family with their 4-H projects throughout the week of the fair. He liked old farm machinery and loved to rebuild old pieces of machinery and in general just loved being outdoors.

Funeral services for Joel will begin at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8, 2017, at Walton-Moore Funeral Home, Sycamore, with the Rev. Frank Murd officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery, Sycamore. Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7, 2017, and noon-1:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
