Richard J. Boes
Richard J. Boes, 77, of Upper Sandusky, died Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2017, at John F. Keever Jr. Solace Center, Asheville, North Carolina.
He was born Sept. 29, 1939, to Charles and Leona (Brandt) Boes Sr. He married Janice M. Pifher Feb. 23, 1963, and she survives in rural Upper Sandusky.
Also surviving are three daughters, Dianne Boes of Weaverville, North Carolina, Jennifer (Scott) Britton of Upper Sandusky and Michelle (Michael) Stricklen of Lexington; nine grandchildren, Lauren, Logan, Langley, Lane Flowers, Dylan and Macy Britton and Amanda, Nicholas and Megan Stricklen; four brothers, Bernard Boes of Kirby and Charles Boes, Eugene Boes and Daniel Boes, all of Upper Sandusky; and three sisters, Sister Agnes Marie, RSM of Dayton, Sister Jane Marie, RSM of Springfield and Mary Dick of Kenton.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Joseph Boes, Paul Boes and Francis Boes; and a sister, Rita Wagner.
He was a member of Transfiguration of the Lord Catholic Church. Mr. Boes had worked at Westinghouse, Upper Sandusky. He was a member of Knights of Columbus No. 2050 and Moose Lodge No. 1093, both of Upper Sandusky, and had served in the National Guard. He enjoyed traveling throughout the United States, especially with family, or helping and visiting family members away from home. He also enjoyed gardening, woodworking and spending time with his grandchildren. He will be remembered as a kind and generous man who was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
His funeral Mass will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 12, 2017, at Transfiguration of the Lord Catholic Church, 225 N. 8th St., Upper Sandusky, with Fr. Frank Murd officiating. Burial will follow in St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery, Upper Sandusky.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 11, at Bringman Clark Funeral Home with a Catholic prayer service at 6:45 p.m.
