Dorothy graduated in 1940 from East Huntington High School, then moved to Washington, D.C., to work in the war department. At the end of World War II, she attended Heidelberg College, married and raised her five children. After she retired, she and Carl traveled extensively to visit family and enjoy different sites around the world. She loved to read, play piano, sing in the choir and do her craft work.
