Martha Marcile ‘Marty’ Young
Martha Marcile “Marty” Young, 92, formerly of 2841 Albaugh Road, Bloomville, died at 10:15 a.m. Friday, Jan. 6, 2017, at Carlisle Place, Bucyrus.
She was born Sept. 11, 1924, the youngest of eight children born to Clayton and Martha (Leimenstoll) Lutz in Crawford County. She married Franklin E. Young, July 28, 1945, and he died May 16, 2013.
She is survived by her five children, Cecelia (Kent) Zwick of Nine Mile Falls, Washington, Karen Miller of Columbus, David (Brenda) Young of rural Bloomville, Lynn Utz of Bucyrus and Stan Young (Trinka Messenheimer) of Bowling Green; 12 grandchildren, Adryan and Brant Zwick, Rod, Shelly and Christopher Miller, Marc, Brent and Shaun Young, Jeremey and Rob Utz, Broede Armstrong and Jack Young; 11 great-grandchildren; and two sister-in-laws, Wanda Zeiter of rural Bloomville, and Phyllis Young of Sycamore.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Calvin, Richard, Lloyd and Harry Lutz; and three sisters, Gertrude Rossman, Hazel Black and Kathryn Bowman.
Marty was a graduate of Holmes Liberty High School, class of 1943, and she attended Bowling Green State University. She worked with her husband on the family farm in Lykens Township and for several years at the former Montgomery Ward order office in Bucyrus. She was a 4-H advisor for many years, a life-long member of Lykens Community Club and Crawford County Homemakers Council. She was a 50-plus year member of Order of the Eastern Star and was proud to serve as a Grand Representative to North Carolina. She and Franklin made many lasting friendships as they traveled the roads of Ohio visiting many OES Chapters as well as Ohio Grand Chapter and General Grand Chapter Sessions.
The funeral for Marty will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2017, at St. John’s Baseline United Church of Christ, with the Rev. Dr. Louis Dorsch officiating. Burial will follow at St. John’s Baseline Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Wednesday, prior to the funeral service at the church.
