Edward L. Swope
Edward L. Swope, 84, of Tiffin, and wintering in Bradenton, Florida, since 1996, passed away Saturday, Jan. 7, 2017, at Blake Medical Center, Bradenton, Florida.
He was born Feb. 3, 1932, in Tiffin, to Lorena Crist and Edward L. Swope. He married Carmelita June Krupp Swope July 5, 1954, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years; two daughters, Andrea Voss and Trina S. Stephens; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Marilyn (Larry) Swope Shaferly.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Mildred (Leo) Schoen and Ruth (Mike) Gerber; a brother, Richard (Edith) Swope; and one grandson.
He graduated from Tiffin Calvert in 1950 and served in the U.S. Army for two years at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, and in Germany. He was employed for many years as a carpenter for Leo Schoen and also R&R Masonry. He retired from St. Francis Home as maintenance supervisor. Over the years, he owned Swope Realty and Auction Service. He was a former member of the Lions Club, Sierra Club and the Moose. He enjoyed golfing, family card games, shuffling and spending retirement at his winter home at Plantation Grove, Bradenton, Florida.
At his request, there will be no services at this time. A memorial will take place at a later date.
