Mary Ann Nye
Mary Ann Nye, of Green Springs, beloved wife, mother, sister and aunt, died Sunday, Dec. 4, 2016, in Toledo, following a short illness.
She was born Feb. 16, 1954, in Sandusky County, to Robert D. and Irene (Terwilliger) Nye. She attended Green Springs School before transferring to Clyde High School, where she graduated. She was employed as a registered nurse for 32 years at Fremont Hospital after graduating from Owens college. She was married to David Popoca in 1972, and they later divorced. In 2006, she married Tom Buder, while on a trip to Hawaii.
Mary Ann was an avid Cleveland Indians fan. She and Tom took many trips to Bristol. Her favorite NASCAR driver was Jimmie Johnson. She was extremely patriotic and would stand at attention with her grandchildren as the “Star Spangled Banner” played on TV. She also enjoyed sewing, crocheting and knitting, cooking and a glass of good wine while watching the games and races. Her favorite times were spent with her family and friends at family gatherings. We will all miss her baked beans.
She is survived by her husband Tom; daughters, Kristie (Brian) Tuthill of Columbus, Sarah (Shane Miller) Popoca of Pittsburg and Erin Buder of Sandusky; and her dog, Molly; her sister, Elissa Nye; mother-in-law, Lois Buder; grandchildren, Addie, McKinsie, JJ and Riley; niece, Joy (John) Lin; nephews, Rory (Missi) Alcala, Joaquin, Jarrett, Gnarly and Kynd; aunt, Helen (Lloyd) Berner; brother-in-law, Bernie (Angie) Popoca; and best friends, Barb Sherman and Peg Arndt.
Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents, Robert (Florence) Nye, Carl Terwilliger and George and Alice Eicher; and former husband, David Popoca.
Mary Ann requested no funeral. There will be a celebration of her life at a later date.
