Wilfred L. ‘Willy’ Frisch

Wilfred L. “Willy” Frisch, 79, of Fostoria, passed away at 10:39 a.m. Sunday, June 29, 2014, at his residence.

Wilfred was born Feb. 5, 1935, near Attica, in a big farm house on US 224 East between Tiffin and Attica, to the late Leo J. and Henrietta (Missler) Frisch. Wilfred married Jo Ann L. (Miller) and they had three children, Jackie Stahl, Katrina (Lowell) Morrison and Marc (Shelly) Frisch. They later divorced and then he married Nancy R. (Cooper) and had a daughter, Dawn Frisch. They divorced and he then married Lois Ann (Cupp) May 18, 2002, and she survives in Fostoria. Also surviving are a brother, Leonard (Janie) Frisch, and a sister, Mardell Stone, both of Tiffin; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and his black lab, Smoky.

Wilfred retired from Basic Refractories, Bettsville, after 33 years, and worked at Derans RedHead Gas Station for many years and Reineke Ford of Fostoria. Wilfred served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Augsburg, Germany. He was a life member of the VFW Post 2858, AMVETS Post 48, the DAV, the New Riegel American Legion Post No. 354 and the Korea War Veterans Association chapter 172 of Findlay, where he served as the sergeant at arms. Wilfred was also involved with the Findlay and Tiffin funeral honor guards.

Wilfred loved to ride his motorcycle and was active in the Knights of Tiffin motorcycle club and the Fostoria Golden Eagles motorcycle club, District 12 of Ohio, and also the North Western Ohio Motorcycle Association.

There will be a graveside service for Wilfred at noon Thursday, July 3, 2014, at Seneca Memory Gardens, Tiffin, with Pastor Larry Knigga officiating. Military rites will be rendered by the United Veterans Council and the Hancock County Veterans Memorial Squad.
